I was planning my timetable for the next semester...and I realized that I have no motivation for school. My core subjects don't interest me the least bit. And the lab module is going to be gruelling. God knows how much I detest being in the lab. The mad rush of getting chemicals, rushing for the rotavap, worrying that you did something wrong, don't get much product, working through the wee hours on the lab report, feeling extremely dumb during the paper...all for 2 AUs. Organic lab is gonna be a doozie, so I decided to take it easy with 6 modules this coming semester.

Which would leave me with 12 AUs of major prescribed eleectives in year 4 sem 1 and 2 unrestricted UEs. At least this would be the last lab module for me. I sure ain't gonna do summer research or final year project. I'm not gonna have a career in a lab.

The thing that will keep me going till I graduate is just the degree. I wonder who else has the same sentiments as me. My coursemates seem so motivated, so well adapted to the lab, feeling excited for the fyp...not me. I'm in the wrong course, but the thought that I don't have to be in the chemistry field after I garduate comforts me a bit. It won't be easy, but I'd rather sit in an office 9 - 5 than work in a lab.
